Program
The Viennese oboe is a special type of oboe which, like the Viennese horn, is almost only played in Viennese orchestras. There is a direct line from the baroque oboe to the oboes at the time of the Viennese classical period (Mozart, Haydn) and some modifications that were carried out in Germany between 1850 and 1880 up to the so-called "Viennese oboe. The peculiarity of the Viennese oboe is darker , velvety sound which mixes particularly well with that of string instruments. We would like to show this with the Divertissement Op. 8 by Wilhelm Ferling. It is a quintet for oboe and string quartet. Wilhelm Ferling was a German oboist, clarinetist and composer who lived in the 19th century. He lived in the 19th century and is best known today for his 48 oboe studies, which stand out for their particular musicality.
